Done-Right Appliance Installation for Philadelphia Homes
New appliances are only as good as the install behind them. A bad gas line, an undersized circuit, or a poorly vented hood can turn a brand-new range into a safety risk.
Showcase Remodels has been a licensed general contractor since 2002, with 350+ verified five-star reviews from Philadelphia homeowners. Appliance installation is part of our full kitchen remodeling service, but we also handle one-off swap-outs.
Our team handles gas range hookups, 240V wall ovens, vent hood ducting, dishwasher plumbing, fridge water lines, and panel-ready built-ins. Every job follows the National Electrical Code, the International Fuel Gas Code, and Philadelphia L&I permit rules.

Gas Range and Cooktop Hookups in Philadelphia
Gas range installs are not a swap-and-go job. They take a licensed plumber or master plumber to handle the gas line and a permit through Philadelphia L&I.
Sizing the Gas Line
Most kitchen ranges need a half-inch flex line off a half-inch supply pipe. High-BTU pro-style ranges from brands like Wolf, Viking, or Thermador often need a three-quarter-inch line. We measure your existing line and upsize if needed.
Shut-Off Valve and Pressure Test
Every gas range needs an accessible shut-off valve behind or beside the appliance. After hookup, we pressure-test the line with a manometer to confirm no leaks. Soapy water tests alone are not enough.
Anti-Tip Bracket and Leveling
All freestanding ranges need an anti-tip bracket bolted to the floor or rear wall. We level the range so pans sit flat and the oven cooks evenly.
Cooktop Cutouts and Clearance
Conversion to LP or Natural Gas
Many ranges ship set for natural gas but can run on propane with a conversion kit. We swap the orifices, adjust the regulator, and re-test the burners. This matters most for homeowners outside the city limits on LP service.
Slide-in cooktops need a clean countertop cutout and the right clearance from cabinets and walls. We cut to the manufacturer template and seal the edges to keep liquids out of the cabinet below.
Wall Ovens, 240V Circuits, and Vent Hood Ducting
Wall ovens and electric cooktops run on 240V circuits, not standard 120V outlets. The wrong circuit will trip the breaker or, worse, melt the wire inside the wall.
Breaker sizing for wall ovens
We size the breaker and wire to the appliance spec sheet. Most single wall ovens need a 30-amp circuit on 10-gauge wire. Double ovens often need 40 or 50 amps on 8-gauge. Every new circuit gets a permit and an inspection.
Real ducting for hoods
Vent hoods need real ducting to the outside. Recirculating filters do not remove grease, steam, or smoke. They just push the same air back into the kitchen. For gas ranges, real outside venting is not optional.
Short straight rigid duct runs
Duct runs should be short, straight, and rigid metal. Flex hose collapses and traps grease. We use solid galvanized duct, sealed joints, and a backdraft damper at the wall cap. For Philly row houses with no easy outside path, we run the duct up through the ceiling and out the roof.
Hood CFM to range BTU
Hood CFM should match the range BTU output. A 30,000-BTU pro range needs at least 600 CFM. Anything less and steam, grease, and smoke linger in the kitchen. We size the hood and the duct together.
Make-up air requirements
Make-up air is often missed. High-CFM hoods pull more air out of the house than the rooms can replace. In tight Philly homes, this can backdraft a gas water heater or fireplace. For hoods over 400 CFM, we add a make-up air system that ties into the HVAC.
Panel-Ready and Built-In Appliance Integration
Built-in appliances give the kitchen a clean, custom look. The fridge, dishwasher, and even microwave can disappear behind matching cabinet panels. The install takes more planning than a freestanding swap.
Panel-Ready Refrigerators
Brands like Sub-Zero, Thermador, and Bosch make fridges designed to take a custom door panel. The panel must match the surrounding cabinets in wood species, stain, hardware, and reveal. We coordinate the panel size with the cabinet maker.
Hidden Dishwashers
Panel-ready dishwashers from Bosch, Miele, and KitchenAid take the same custom panel treatment. The control panel sits on top of the door so the front looks like just another cabinet.
Drawer Microwaves
Built-In Coffee Makers and Warming Drawers
These extras need plumbing or a 240V circuit, plus a tight cabinet cutout. We handle the rough-in early in the remodel so nothing has to be re-cut after the cabinets are in.
A drawer microwave installed in the island or base cabinet keeps countertops clear and makes the kitchen feel more polished. We build out the base cabinet to the right size and run the dedicated circuit before install.
